Dozens of renditions on the layout over the years, but MSCoastRealty.com is still one of my favorite projects. Not because it was mine and it made me a lot of money, but because it was this site and the success it brought me in my local market that helped me to realize that I wasn’t really burnt out in consulting work – I was just burn out consulting with large companies.

See, I started my real estate business in 2003 after being extremely tired of my then occupation which was mostly computer and internet consulting with larger companies. I LOVE the real estate field, but I also LOVE helping other small businesses succeed.

This site uses Thesis, a framework that works on top of WordPress and allows you to adjust the look of your site in real time. It is an awesome framework and has a lot of great features. I won’t go into any of them though because it wasn’t any of that that made me love this site so much – it was the the fact that this site helped me to realize my true calling….helping others!

Okay, take away the sarcasm and we are really happy about the new design. The old design was a a bit lacking for the quality of image we like to showcase. Think of it in terms of a mechanic’s car – they always have the worst car because they don’t want to work on a car after they worked on yours all day, right? Well – it was time we changed up and got in the new.

After all, you want an awesome website – it does make sense that ours reflect our image and personality as well.

What is special about this setup?

1. We are using WordPress as a semantic blogging platform
2. We like our toys, so we added a few of our own. Aside from some theme specific ones (thanks to Elegant Themes)
3. Custom front page with stylized blog (fancy words for “out of the way but still visible”)
